The Interstitial
in·ter·sti·tial ˌin-tər-ˈsti-shəl
: occurring in or being an interval or intervening space or segment
: pertaining to being between things
The Interstitial is a producing partnership between Erica Wray and Morgan Grambo dedicated to amplifying exciting new works by theatremakers interested in creating uniquely compelling theatre events that frequently fall “in-between” our understanding of traditional new work development. The Interstitial is agile enough to meet each piece we encounter at its point of development, which is often post-reading(s) or in need of an in-room workshop collaboration to answer a specific question.
New plays can often flounder in the spaces that exist between generation | exploration | presentation.
We are interested in providing resources to embrace these interstitial moments in artistic development and support the playwrights in these unmoored periods in a project’s lifespan.

Interests
While our interests are varied, we enjoy scripts that contend with loneliness, memory, climate and environmental Issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and many other urgent sociopolitical concerns. Erica Wray is a new play director, Laban Movement Analyst, and Intimacy Director. Morgan Grambo is a dramaturg, producer, and writer dedicated to the production of new plays. In exploring form, pieces based in movement and gesture, chance and probability or gamification, docudrama, and the limits and possibilities of language have piqued our interest. Most importantly, we are inspired by a writer’s excitement and commitment to exploring a question that refuses to let the audience look away.
At the moment, Erica and Morgan are interested in projects that can also engage their primary artistic disciplines–directing and dramaturgy, respectively–in addition to amplifying the work of theatremakers.
